Big Brothers Big Sisters scholarship goes to Stanton

Samantha Stanton of Hagerstown received the inaugural Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County Inc. scholarship. The scholarship was for $500.

As a recent graduate of South Hagerstown High School, she is planning to attend Hagerstown Community College for the fall semester.

Mary Rogers was Samantha’s Big Sister in the organization. She supported Samantha for the eight years they were matched.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters scholarship is awarded to Little Sisters and Little Brothers who have graduated and have been accepted at an accredited college, university or technical school.

Each year, a portion of the funds raised during the Swing for Scholarships golf t ournament is set aside to be awarded in scholarships.
