Sheldon Ray Crossland, a junior at Williamsport High School, attended the National Student Leadership Conference at American University in Washington, D.C., from June 16 to 26.

The conference is a program in which students from across the nation and around the world get to experience college life, while learning about their future college field of study.

Sheldon’s future college field of study is journalism, film and media arts.

While attending the conference, he attended leadership and communication sessions, and met directors, writers and journalists.

He worked in groups to create and direct film and  experienced what it takes to be a news reporter and journalist.

Sheldon made new friends from places such as China, England, South Korea, Brazil and South Africa.

It was an opportunity for Sheldon to get to preview what college life is like and the responsibilities that go with being a college student.

His family would like to thank those family members who sponsored Sheldon for the experience of a lifetime.
