Harry H. "Junie" Branche Jr., 79, was called home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2013.

Harry was born in McConnellsburg, Pa., on Sept. 28, 1933, son of the late Harry and Mary Louise Branche.

As a member of Bethel Cito A.M.E Church, he discovered a talent in piano and singing at the age of 8 that continued until his passing. He graduated from McConnellsburg High School, and at 19 joined the U.S. Air Force, serving nine years until he was honorably discharged and returned home to begin a career in the nursing field. He completed 35 years of faithful service at Western Maryland State Hospital.

Young Harry enjoyed all sports and excelled in most everything he did; track, baseball, boxing and basketball.

He was a member of Second Christian Church, where he was a deacon and directed the choir.

Harry will be remembered most for his kind and gentle spirit. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Branche; two sons, Harry H. Branche III  ("June-bug") and William Spriggs; eight daughters, Sandy Lee, MaryAnn Branche, Gwen Thomas, Faye Branche, Angela Dixson, Holly Branche, Sarah Butts and Reniza Branche; one sister, Mary Alyce Branche-Anderson and brother in-law, Leslie Anderson; two nieces, Sherrie and Shelly Anderson; one aunt, Alice Branche; 29 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, and many cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Winnie Mae Branche; a sister, Mary Magdalene; a brother, Johnny; and one uncle, Ted Branche. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Second Christian Church, 65 North Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740. The Rev. Jacquelyn Dixon will officiate. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at the church.
