Hagerstown residents to have chance to provide ideas for new 'West City' elementary school

July 11, 2013

A public meeting will be held Tuesday night to give Hagerstown residents the chance to provide ideas for the new “West City” elementary school, according to a school system official.

The school system and BFM Architects will co-host the 6 p.m. meeting at Salem Avenue Elementary School, Washington County Public Schools spokesman Richard Wright said.

The school system is reaching out to families in the Winter Street, Conococheague and Salem Avenue school districts via its email alert system to notify them of the meeting, because those schools are the closest to the new school site behind Walmart in the city’s West End, Wright said.

Architects will provide ideas about the possible design for the new school and lead a discussion encouraging residents to offer their views on the project, according to a school system news release.
