New traffic pattern planned for Charles Town intersection

July 09, 2013

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — A traffic pattern change is coming to the intersection of South George Street (W.Va. 115) and Citizens Way in Charles Town, the West Virginia Division of Highways said.

Stop signs will be added on South George Street to make the intersection an all-way stop. Work is currently scheduled to begin Wednesday, weather permitting, according to a news release from the division of highways.

At all-way stop intersections, stop signs are placed at each road approaching the intersection, requiring all drivers to stop before proceeding through the intersection. All-way stops are also commonly referred to as four-way or three-way stops.

The traffic pattern change is the result of a study to improve the safety of the intersection, the release said.
