Higher substitute teacher pay rates approved

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Substitute teachers in the Waynesboro Area School District will be paid at a higher rate in 2013-14 under a pay scale approved Tuesday by the Waynesboro Area School Board.

Day-to-day substitutes will be paid $90 a day for the first 20 days of work. They’ll be paid $100 a day for the 41st day and each day thereafter. That rate was formerly $85, school officials said.

Long-term substitute rates start at the 90th day.

Disposal of obsolete technology approved

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Area School District will dispose of items labeled as “obsolete or nonworking” technology.

The surplus property includes laptop computers and phones. Some of it will be sold on eBay, according to Business Administrator Thomas Dick.

“We do have a recycler we work with who takes some of the equipment,” he told the Waynesboro Area School Board Tuesday.

The board unanimously approved moving forward with disposal of the items.
