Bluegrass festival

Emmanuel United Methodist Church will hold a bluegrass festival Saturday, starting at 6 p.m.

The groups Faith Ministries, Down Home Gospel Singers and One of A Kind will perform.

The community is invited.

Vacation Bible school

Hagerstown Church of the Brethren will hold its vacation Bible school July 15 to 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Classes are for those ages 4 through eighth grade.

The theme will be “God’s Backyard Bible Camp Under the Stars.”

The church is at 15 S. Mulberry St. in Hagerstown.

Adventurer of the Year

National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year Jennifer Pharr Davis will be at the Williamsport Library Monday, July 15, at 7 p.m.

In other library news, a time capsule craft program will be held Wednesday, July 24, at 3 p.m. at the North Pointe branch.

The event is for those ages 5 and older.

Hagerstown Lions Club

Tuesday — Bob Spence, executive director of the Fort Ritchie Community Center, will be the guest speaker at the Hagerstown Lions Club meeting. He will talk about the community center.


Discovery Station

Discovery Station will hold its seventh annual Discovery Station Golf Tournament Friday, July 19, at Black Rock Golf Course.

Chocolate Garden Tea

The Friends of the Doleman Black Heritage Museum will present the second annual Chocolate Garden Tea Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Applause Caterers, 58 E. Washington St.

The tea will include a mixture of chocolate desserts, a showing of the latest mobile museum exhibits, a raffle of two Longaberger baskets filled with goodies and performances by pianist Latonya Wrenn of Washington, D.C.

Linda Irvin-Craig of the Washington County Historical Society will be the guest speaker.

Doors open at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $25 per person or $250 for a table that seats 10. Tickets can be purchased by calling the museum at 301-797-5019.

The event is sponsored by Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Proceeds will go to the museum and its potential move downtown.
