Residents and staff of Western Maryland Hospital Center were joined by members of the community for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the Fletcher Fitness Trail on Wednesday, June 5.

Started in the fall of 2012, the trail consists of five stations, each with exercise equipment suitable for able-bodied and wheelchair accessibility.

The Alice Virginia and David W. Fletcher Foundation provided funding for all of the equipment, with many local businesses and Washington County government contributing skills or additional funds to complete the project.

Open to the public, the trail is located on the south side of the hospital center.

Wheelchair accessible parking is available from the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance to the Washington County Health Department and following directions to the dialysis parking lot.
