Church to host music, history of Sharpsburg

Christ Reformed Church at 117 W. Main St., in Sharpsburg, will host a program of special music and history of Sharpsburg’s churches Sunday at 3:30 p.m. 

Kathleen Boyer, organist at Christ Reformed, will play on the 1946 M.P. Moller pipe organ and has selected favorite hymns, including “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” and “God of the Ages, Who with Sure Command.” 

Joining her will be musicians Richard Gross and Lyndell Clipp performing duets for organ and trumpet: “A Mighty Fortress” and “America the Beautiful.”

The. Rev. Delancy Catlett will share brief histories of Sharpsburg churches, including Holy Trinity Lutheran, St. Paul’s Episcopal, Christ Reformed UCC, Church of the Brethren — Dunker, Sharpsburg Bible Church and Methodist.

Library to show film, feature exotic animals

The Sharpsburg Library will show the G-rated film “The Secret World of Arrietty” Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The animated film of the Mary Norton novel “The Borrowers” features actors Amy Poehler, Will Arnett and Carol Burnett dubbing in English.

On Thursday, at 3:30 p.m., Critters and Conservation will be held. Attendees can see live exotic animals up close.

Antietam Station to open this weekend

During the 250th anniversary of the Town of Sharpsburg celebration, the Antietam Station railroad museum will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Antietam Station is at 17230 Shepherdstown Pike, west of Sharpsburg. Model railroad and museum displays will be available. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

Ag center to host tractor pullers July 13

The Washington County Tractor Pullers will bring pulling action to the Washington County Agricultural Education Center Saturday, July 13, at 6 p.m.

The rain date is Sunday, July 14, at 2 p.m.. Admission costs $15 per person. Those ages 10 and younger will be admitted free. 

Classes pulling include super stock/pro stock tractors, super modified two-wheel drive trucks, multiengine modified tractors, modified four-wheel drive trucks and the pro stock diesel four-wheel-drive trucks.

Advanced reduced-price tickets are available at Hoffman Dodge and Resley Tire in Hagerstown.

There will be a meet and greet with some of the drivers Friday, July 12, from noon to 5 p.m. at Hoffman Dodge.

London Fog to hold reunion

Boonsboro London Fog employees will hold a reunion Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Boonsboro American Legion.

All employees and management personnel who worked at the Boonsboro plant or at the cutting facility in Hagerstown are invited to attend.

Wyant to speak at senior site Monday

Nurse Louise Wyant will present a diabetes program Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Southeastern Senior Center in Keedysville.

Manager Martha Drennen will present a Mobile Information and Assistance program Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Marcia Davies will conduct exercises Friday.

The center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
