Battle of Hagerstown tours
On Saturday, July 6, tours of Hagerstown will be held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Hagerstown during the Civil War. The 90-minute tours are at noon, 3 and 6 p.m. and cover about 1 1/2 miles. Meet in front of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Public Square, downtown Hagerstown. Fireworks at Fairgrounds Park
To celebrate Independence Day, C Smash and Demetri Callas and the Teddy Boys with special guests Michael Walls “Pokey” and Mike Sheer will perform Thursday, July 4. Sharpsburg’s big birthday
Sharpsburg residents celebrate the 250th anniversary of the town’s founding Sunday, July 7, with a full schedule of events, including wreath laying at Mountain View Cemetery, Chapline Family Plot, 11:30 a.m.; lunch at St. Paul’s parish hall, 209 W. Main St., 1 to 2:30 p.m.; book launch “Searching for Joseph Chapline,” Sharpsburg Library, 1 to 2 p.m.; history program and displays, Sharpsburg Library, 1 to 4 p.m.; Ice cream social and raffle drawing at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; Rohrersville Band concert and world premiere of fife and drum tune “Chapline’s Strut” by Deirdre Barone, St. Paul’s Church lawn, 5 to 6 p.m. Downtown Sharpsburg. Fourth in the Park
On Thursday, July 4, there will be family activities, food and music by the U.S. Navy Country Current and Bluegrass Ensemble and the Williamsport Community Band at Byron Memorial Park, off U.S. 11, Williamsport. Fireworks at dusk. The swimming pool will be open. 5 p.m. Admission to swimming pool, $4; $2, children.

Shepherdstown parade and picnic
On Thursday, July 4, there will be a parade at 11 a.m. on German Street between Church and Princess streets. Picnic with children’s activities and live music. Food will be sold.
