Air Force Airman Charlie B. Castera, son of Azmaveth Cortes of Hagerstown, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

Castera is a 2012 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

Air Force Airman Loy M. Nguema, son of Adama Macalou of Hagerstown, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

Nguema is a 2010 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Loiacono, son of Tammy Atkins of Deale, Md., and Stephan Loiacono of Frederick, Md., is assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Cheyenne (SSN 773), which arrived in Busan, Republic of Korea, as part of its Western Pacific deployment.

Loiacono and other sailors’ arrival followed its participation in the bilateral naval exercise Foal Eagle, involving assets from the U.S. and Republic of Korea navies.

Cheyenne is homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is one of the most capable fast-attack submarines in the U.S. Navy.

Loiacono is a 2002 graduate of Southern High School in Harwood, Md., and joined the Navy in January 2010.
