District 1 11-12 Tournament

Sharpsburg 8, Valley 5

SHARPSBURG — Josh Derocher had two home runs and four RBIs to lead Sharpsburg to an opening-game victory over Valley on Saturday.

Dalton Shank, T.J. Kalagher and Den Burgan had two hits each for Sharpsburg. Burgan, Shank and Derocher combined for 11 strikeouts.

Brendon Kemp had two hits and Chris Martin struck out nine for Valley.

Sharpsburg will host South Mountain in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal on Monday evening at 6. Valley will host a losers’ bracket game on Tuesday evening at 6.

Maugansville 7, National 1

MAUGANSVILLE — Chase Gallihugh capped a six-run third inning with a grand slam, and Maugansville beat National in the opening round.

Maugansville will host Federal in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal on Monday evening at 6. National will host a losers’ bracket game on Tuesday evening at 6.

Gallihugh opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second as Maugansville took a 1-0 lead. Scott Neal had an RBI single in the third before Gallihugh’s slam.

Spencer McNamee struck out nine over five scoreless innings to earn the win.

Jacquan Young hit a solo home run in the sixth for National.

Conococheague 4, Hancock 3

HANCOCK — Conococheague scored the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Hancock in the opening round.

Alex Avey singled in the tying run before an errant throw allowed the winning run to score.

Conococheague will host Clear Spring in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal on Monday evening at 6. Hancock will host a losers’ bracket game Tuesday evening at 6.

Hancock took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning before Conococheague rallied. Evan Gordon hit a solo home run, Dylan Melton had two hits, Justice Allen drove in a run and Ethan Souders struck out seven.

Ryan Sharer struck out six in 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win for Conococheague. Maddux Grove and Skylar Whittington hit RBI singles.

District 1 Senior Tournament

Maugansville 5, Conococheague 4

MAUGANSVILLE — Jordan Davis had three hits to lead Maugansville past Conococheague in the losers’ bracket final.

Tyler George and Zach Zawatski added two hits each for Maugansville.

Jordan Buchanan homered for Conococheague.

Maugansville will travel to Valley on Monday evening at 5:30 for the first of two possible championship round games. Valley can win the title with a victory Monday. A Maugansville victory would force a final game at Maugansville on Wednesday evening at 5:30.

District 1 10-11 Tournament

Valley 20, Clear Spring 1

CHEWSVILLE — John Carter had two hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs to lead Valley past Clear Spring in the opening round.

Wyatt Roof and Bryce Keller combined on a three-hitter for Valley. Nate Walker added two hits.

Conococheague 8, West End 1

WILLIAMSPORT — Bryce Romsburg smacked a three-run homer in the fourth to lead Conococheague past West End in the opening round.

Corey Walters hit an RBI triple and Trey Osborne and Justin Moschel added an RBI double each for Conococheague. Christian Stanton and Walters combined on a three-hitter, with Walters striking out five.

Shanda Carter hit an RBI single for West End’s run.

Valley will host Conococheague in the winners’ bracket final on Monday evening at 6. Clear Spring will host West End in the losers’ bracket semifinal at the same time.

Hagerstown PONY League

Redmen 12, United Bank 8

Redmen: Hunter Ostrum 6 Ks, 2 RBIs; Robert Carr 2 hits; A.J. Yost 2 RBIs.

United Bank: Alfonzo White, Bryce Scharenbroch, Brandon Gooden, Alan Jenkins 2 hits each; Josh Tibbs, Isaac Schlotterbeck 2 RBIs each.
