Edwyn Lee Finfrock Sr., 80, of Smithsburg passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born Nov. 5, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Vernon and Grace (Sheffler) Finfrock.

Finfrock retired after 30 years of service as a correctional officer for the state of Maryland.

He was a member of St. Paul's Free Lutheran Church in Leitersburg.

He also was a member of the Via deCristo, Leitersburg Ruritan Club and Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by two sons, Edwyn L. Finfrock Jr. of Maybrooke, N.Y., and Alan W. Finfrock of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one daughter, Joan L. Jenkins of Belmont, N.H.; one sister, JoEllen Bitner of South Carolina; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Pauline (Haynes) Finfrock; and one daughter, Brenda L. Hitt.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Terry Culler officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
