Morning MoJo report - June 27

Here is the Morning MoJo Report for Thursday, June 27:

* As of 7:30 a.m., traffic was sluggish on I-495 in both directions, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation's interactive mapping page on its website, but was running fine on all the other interstates throughout the area.

* The MARC Trains may have a 5- to 10-minute delay departing from and arriving at Washington due to tracks blocked at Union Station, according to the Maryland Transit Administration's website at
* The light rail, local bus service, commuter buses, and mobility service are all running on time and operating on their regular schedules, according to the MTA website.

* The weather today is expected to be humid with clouds and fog this morning, showers and possibly a heavy thunderstorm, a high of 85 degrees, winds around 5 miles per hour, and a 66 percent chance of precipitation, according to the AccuWeather forecast on the HMTV6 weather website at Tonight, it's expected to be partly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm, a low of 68 degrees, winds around 5 mph, and a 56 percent chance of precipitation. 


* Interstate 70 is subject to single-lane closures at the bridges over Ashton and St. Paul roads just east of Exit 18 to Clear Spring on Thursday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday as work crews overlay the surfaces of the bridges, the SHA said in a press release. 

* Broadfording Road between Resh Road/Broadfording Church Road and the Broadfording Stone Arch Bridge is closed for replacement of a pipe culvert and stone endwalls, according to a Washington County news release. Closure is expected to remain in effect for around 10 weeks.

* Stevenson Road is closed at the intersection with Leitersburg-Smithsburg Road, Washington County said in a press release. It is expected to remain closed for seven more weeks.

* Interstate 70 eastbound between Dual Highway/National Pike (U.S. 40) and Mapleville Road (Md. 66) is subject to lane closures through for a resurfacing project, the Maryland State Highway Administration said in a press release. Closures are expected to remain in effect Thursday between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. and Sunday between midnight and 11 a.m.

* Md. 550 is subject to single-lane closures Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and shoulder lanes closures at any time between Md. 491 and the Frederick County Line until the summer in order to provide new pavement, better drainage, and other improvements, the State Highway Administration said.

* Speed cameras have been placed on I-70 at Conococheague Creek and I-70 at Md. 63 for work zone safety as part of bridge rehabilitation projects, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. Motorists driving more than 12 miles per hour over the posted 55 mph speed limit in those areas will face a $40 citation.

* Traffic is being shifted to the outer edges of the I-70 bridges at Md. 63 as work crews begin demolition work on the inner sides of the bridges as part of the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) project to reconstruct and widen them, according to the SHA.
