Northbound I-81 in Berkeley County re-opened after tractor trailer overturns

June 27, 2013

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — An accident involving a tractor-trailer shut down lanes of northbound Interstate 81 near Exit 16 for about three hours Thursday, according to a Berkeley County 911 supervisor.

Units responded at 3:24 p.m. to the scene of the accident north of Exit 16 at the 16.9 mile marker, where the tractor had overturned, the supervisor said.

The lanes were shut down because of fuel leaking from the tractor, according to the supervisor.

No injuries were reported, the supervisor said.

Both lanes of northbound I-81 had reopened as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The West Virginia State Police are investigating the crash, the 911 official said.

Further details were not available Thursday night.
