Five men and two juveniles who were charged in an indictment earlier this month with participating in a gang-related shooting near Jonathan Street in Hagerstown appeared for bond review hearings Wednesday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Seven others who also were charged in the indictment likely will appear for bond review hearings Thursday, Washington County Deputy State’s Attorney Steven Kessell said.

Kessell said he believed authorities picked up the men over the course of the last few days.

He said at the hearing that the incident occurred April 15, when two men were shot during a gunfight between members of the Crips and Bloods street gangs in the Jonathan Street area.

Police have said neither of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

Kessell said two houses also were hit by gunfire.

The first house was hit by two or three shots on the first floor, he said. The occupants were upstairs at the time of the shooting.

Another house at 133 W. Bethel St. was also hit by 12 to 20 bullets, he said.
