Golf tournament raises $52,000 for Panhandle hospitals

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — The 26th annual Bernie Hutzler Golf Classic, sponsored by the foundations for University Healthcare, netted $52,000 to benefit Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va., and Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, W.Va.

More than 200 golfers played in the June 3 event at Cress Creek Country Club in Shepherdstown.

The co-chairs were Chris Colbert, Montie Hicks and Selwyn Persad.

The team of Kevin Justice, Greg Kennedy, Tim Zeger and Craig Campbell shot a 52 to earn the overall first-place finish.

The winning team, along with the organizing committee, directed proceeds from the tournament to be used for the catheter lab at Berkeley Medical Center and the women’s imaging center at Jefferson Medical Center.
To date, nearly $1.3 million has been raised from the University Healthcare golf tournaments to benefit the two hospitals.   

The 2014 Bernie Hutzler Golf Classic will be Monday, June 2. Co-chairs will be Persad, Bryan Jones and Gary Spoales.
