DISTRICT 1 9-10
MAUGANSVILLE — Cole Brechbill, Samuel Semler and Trevor Jelinek each drove in two runs and Ian Klick scored two runs as Maugansville edged Valley 9-8 in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal on Saturday.
Brady Baile had three hits and two RBIs, Louis Lindsay had two hits and Connor Bowers scored four runs for Valley.
West End 12, South Mountain 1
Bailey Himes pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead West End past South Mountain in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal.
Ivan Ramirez had two hits for West End.
Conococheague 19, Clear Spring 9
WILLIAMSPORT — Trace Draper had two hits and three RBIs to lead Conococheague past Clear Spring in a winners’ bracket quarterfinal.
Conococheague fell behind 5-0 before the bats came alive in the third to take a 7-5 lead.
Clear Spring regained the lead in the fourth, 9-7, but Conococheague answered with an 11-run rally in the bottom half.
Camden Maloy had three hits, Andrew Kelbaugh had two hits and two RBIs, Hunter Turner had three RBIs and Corey Jamison had two RBIs for Conococheague.
Eric Bender and Garrett Gladhill had two hits and two RBIs each and David Clever had two hits for Clear Spring.
Sharpsburg 20, National 5
Matt Kulikowski had four hits to lead Sharpsburg past National on Friday night in the first round.
Cody Henderson and Josh Giffin each had three hits, and Brady Ingram and J.T. Jansson each added two hits for Sharpsburg.
LEGION BASEBALL
Funkstown Post 211 5-10, Sykesville Post 223 2-0
FUNKSTOWN — J.T. Root had two hits and an RBI to lead Funkstown Post 211 past Sykesville Post 223 in the opener of a doubleheader sweep.
Colby Johnson had two hits and Hunter McKinley and Zach Lucas combined on a three-hitter for Funkstown.
In the second game, a five-inning shutout, Aaron Roby hurled a two-hitter with six strikeouts, Aaron Jones had two hits, Lucas hit a two-run double and Mark Grunberg and Brad Enfield had two RBIs each for Funkstown (6-1, 3-0).
PREP BASEBALL
Team Maryland takes third
NORMAN, Okla. — Team Maryland defeated Oklahoma 16-7 in the consolation game to finish third in the Heartland Baseball Classic.
Maryland scored 12 runs in the first two innings.
Andy Szamski (Eastern Tech) had two home runs and five RBIs, Andrew Yacyk (North Hagerstown) had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs, and Alex Kennedy (Catoctin) pitched five innings to pick up the win for Maryland (5-4), which rapped out 17 hits.
On Friday night, Maryland lost in the semifinals, 10-3 to Texas.
Yacyk and Brady Policelli (Walkersville) each homered for Maryland.
Texas won its second consecutive championship with a 6-0 shutout of Ohio.
