June 22, 2013

A Berkeley Springs, W.Va., man who shot himself Friday night was listed in stable condition Saturday afternoon at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia, police said.

Berkeley Springs Police Chief Craig Pearrell said Saturday that the man got into an argument with a woman over the phone, then shot himself in the upper abdomen with a .410-gauge shotgun.

The incident was reported at 8:50 p.m. in the 200 block of North Washington Street, according to police and a 911 dispatcher.

Authorities said the man was flown to the hospital to receive treatment for his wound.
