James Michael “Mike” Hall, 64, of Greencastle, Pa., passed away Friday, June 14, 2013.

Born April 22, 1949, in Meadville, Pa., he was a son of the late James Oscar and Alice Euliano Hall.

He had been a Franklin County, Pa., resident for 39 years.

Mike was a graduate of Churchill Area High School in Pittsburgh and Edinboro (Pa.) University.  He was a social studies teacher and coach in the Greencastle-Antrim School District before embarking on an entrepreneurial career as a sales engineer and owner of Hagerstown Industrial Supply Co. He especially loved American history, politics and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

Mike had a generous spirit and a boisterous personality. He will be remembered as a man who could light up a room and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Some of his fondest memories were ones spent with family members and friends near and far.


Mike was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church of Greencastle.

He was a former member of the Hagerstown Rotary Club. His current memberships included Greencastle Sportsman’s Club, Moose Lodge 1790, American Legion 517 and VFW 6241, all of Mercersburg.

Surviving family include his beloved wife of 39 years, Carol Rastetter Hall; three children, Allison and husband, Craig Zeger, Kelly and husband, Kevin Stoner, and James Michael Matthew “Macke” Hall, all of Mercersburg; five grandchildren, Grant and Carly Zeger, and Sophia, Zachary and Alexander Stoner, all of Mercersburg; a brother, Dennis and wife, Holly Hall, of New Palestine, Ind.; a sister, Cindy and husband, Pete Lopez, of Fort Collins, Co.; and many adoring aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A viewing will be Wednesday, June 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with the Rev. Joe Carolin officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
