When the Rev. Janice Dorsey was named a 2008 People’s Choice Award winner by the Community Foundation of Washington County, she asked that the endowment created in her honor be named after her late husband.

Thus, the Bill Dorsey Scholarship for the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Fund was created.

On June 3, the annual scholarship was awarded to Kenny Catchings, a dance major from Hagerstown.

Catchings has attended the school for three years and will complete his education there as a senior in the fall.

The scholarship is intended to help a student offset the cost of supplies and materials necessary for the discipline in which he or she studies.

For more information about the scholarship fund, call the Community Foundation at 301-745-5210.
