Prejean to receive Grumman scholarship

BALTIMORE — Tristan Andre Prejean, a graduating senior at Heritage Academy in Hagerstown, was named one of this year’s winners in Northrop Grumman Corp.’s 11th annual Engineering Scholars program. 

Northrop Grumman recently announced the 24 winners in the program, which will provide a total of $240,000 in college scholarships this fall to high school seniors across Maryland interested in studying engineering, computer science, physics or math.

The program is aimed at supporting promising high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in an engineering-related field. Candidates must plan to attend an accredited college or university school of engineering as a full-time student in an approved engineering program. The funds can be used for tuition, books, room and board, and lab fees.

Students from 23 Maryland counties and the city of Baltimore each will receive merit-based scholarships of $10,000 payable in $2,500 installments over four years .

James John Ledwell of Middletown (Md.) High School was named the winner from Frederick County, Md.

The awards will be presented June 24 during a reception and dinner hosted by Northrop Grumman at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel.
