June 16, 2013

Berkeley Springs, W.Va. — A Berkeley Springs man, who was selling beverages along the side of U.S. 522 southwest of Berkeley Springs, died from injuries he received in an accident Saturday afternoon when a 2007 International truck struck three vehicles, including the local man’s parked van, according to a West Virginia State Police news release.

Robert Wayne Hunt Sr., 57, of Berkeley Springs, was taken to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, state police said.

Charles Thomas Wayne, who was driving the 2007 International truck, was cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle and driving with a revoked driver’s license, state police said.

The release does not state whether the International truck was a tractor-trailer or just the cab for a trailer.
The accident was still under investigation, the release states.

The International truck was traveling north on Valley Road, also known as U.S. 522, at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday when the truck struck two northbound vehicles, then left the right side of the road and hit a 1997 GMC van that was parked on the side of the road. Beverages were being sold from the van, state police said.
