Eddie L. Cunningham, 66, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his home.

Born Aug. 10, 1946, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Richard and Julia M. (Barker) Cunningham.

Ed was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School, Hagerstown Business College, and the University of Baltimore, with a degree in criminal justice.

He retired as a correctional officer with the State of Maryland, and then worked as a courier for Phoenix Color.

He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church, the NRA, and a former member of Sons of the American Legion, Clear Spring.

His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and golf.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret J. (Kirrer) Cunningham; two children, Amanda Cunningham of Florida and Christopher Cunningham (Sara) of Virginia; two grandchildren, Gavin and Brianna; sister-in-law, Carol Stitz (Ronald) of Maryland; two nephews, Chad Sholter (Barbara) and Cory Sholter (Juliana); three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Linda M. Alessandri officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haven Lutheran Church, Hospice of Washington County or the John Marsh Cancer Center.

Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, is in charge of the arrangements.
