Peter F. Gacki, 89, of Wesley Drive, Quincy Village, Quincy, Pa., died unexpectedly at 9:35 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in his home.

Born April 2, 1924, in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Stanley S. and Joan (Rubin) Gacki. Peter married Ruth Ann (Lindenfelser) Gacki on April 18, 1959.

Peter was employed by IBM in Hagerstown, Md., for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

 He was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle, Pa. Peter was a member of Knights of Columbus in Chambersburg, Pa., and the Knights of the Immaculate. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He graduated from De Witt Clinton High School in New York City and from the RCA Institute in New York. He attended the Greencastle Senior Center and volunteered with the Meals On Wheels program. He also enjoyed woodworking, having made a number of pieces of furniture, and baking bread.

Surviving family, in addition to his wife, are one son, Thomas P. Gacki and wife, Brenda, of Harrisburg, Pa.; one daughter, Margaret M. Gacki of Cumberland, Md.; and two grandchildren, Grace E. Gacki and Zachary M. Gacki, both of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael F. Gacki, in 1987; and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 14, at 2 p.m., at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with the Rev. Joseph L. Stahura as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa. There will be a visitation at the church one hour before the service Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Catholic Charities, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, Las Vegas, NV 89101; or to the charity of one's choice.
