Henry David "Chic" Burkett Sr., 80, of 11 Hammock Drive, Inwood, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his residence.

Born Jan. 30, 1933, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Merle Rowland and Mary Elizabeth Pitsnogle Burkett.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Doris Burkett, in 2003.

He owned and operated Burketts Chesapeake Café.

He was a life member of the Moose Club and served as governor, and a life member of the Goodwill Athletic Club. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 378.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Flood and husband, Barry, of Hagerstown; two sons, Michael Burkett and wife, Tina, and Henry David Burkett Jr. and wife, Kathi, all of Hagerstown; one brother, Emit Burkett of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his companion, Bea Coddington of Inwood.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, Md. The Rev. David Sword will officiate. 

There will be no viewing.

Family requests omission of flowers, and donations to help defray funeral expenses.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
