Franklin County bridge open after replacement

ORRSTOWN, Pa. — A bridge over Muddy Run in Franklin County, Pa., reopened to traffic earlier this week nearly a year after it closed for replacement.

Under a $1.9 million contract with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, J. Fulkroad & Sons Inc. demolished a 72-year-old bridge on Pa. 533 (Orrstown Road) and replaced it with a new concrete structure.

The bridge is in a Southampton Township, according to a news release.

The roadway closed in July 2012.
