Moore, Daniel named Shepherd’s athletes of the year

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Senior Chad Moore, of the men’s basketball team, and senior Emily Daniel, of the women’s basketball team, recently were named Shepherd University’s male and female athletes of the year.

Moore, who gained honorable mention All-American honors, led the WVIAC in scoring and ranked eighth nationally with 22.9 points per game. His 2,083 career points rank him fifth on the all-time Shepherd scoring list, while his 1,034 rebounds rank him fourth and his 227 steals have him tied for second on the Shepherd all-time list.

Daniel led the Rams in scoring (14.4 points per game), rebounding (7.9 per game)  and minutes (33.5 per game). She finished her career in seventh place on the Shepherd all-time scoring list with 1,167 points. Her 805 career rebounds rank her fourth on the all-time list.

AAU Junior Olympic track meet at South Hagerstown June 21-23

The Amateur Athletic Union Area 3 Junior Olympic National Qualifier track and field meet, for ages 6 to 18, will be held June 21-23 at South Hagerstown High School.

Orioles in the Outfield Camp June 25-27 at Marty Snook Park

The Hagerstown Area Church Softball League’s Orioles in the Outfield Baseball Camp, for ages 7-14, will be held June 25-27 from 9 a.m. to noon each day at Marty Snook Park.

The special guest is Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis. Instruction will be given by local high school coaches.
