Homestead Days set for this weekend at Green Hill Farm

The Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission announced that Green Hill Farm will host Homesteading Days Friday through Sunday.

Washington County-area experts will teach seminar participants how to grow, harvest and preserve food, and showcase steps to make bread and wine from scratch. 

Other classes include processing goat’s milk soap, harvesting poultry and rabbits, and preparing your family for unforeseen disasters.

The following is a schedule of Homesteading Days workshops that will be held at Green Hill Farm, rain or shine: 

  • Friday, 6 to 9 p.m., wine making and tasting

  • Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m., goat soap making; 11 to 1 p.m., raising and processing rabbits with Leaning Sycamore Farm; 1 to 3 p.m., gardening and composting with Theresa Lubke Kirk; 3 to 5 p.m., poultry processing with Shawna Dewitt of Mountain View Farm; 5 to 7 p.m., canning and preserving

  • Sunday, noon to 2 p.m., bread and pasta making with Theresa Lubke Kirk; 2 to 4 p.m., Dutch oven cooking with Meredith Poffenberger; and 4 to 7 p.m., prepper seminar

Prices vary for each seminar, but range from $25 to $75. To reserve your spot, print and return a seminar form to Erin Moshier at Green Hill Farm, 5329 Mondell Road, Sharpsburg, MD 21782.  

Participants registered for more than one seminar will receive a $10 discount on each additional class.
