Winter Street group plans trip to Great Falls

Winter Street Alumni Association members are planning an Odyssey Cruise to Great Falls, Va., on Wednesday, June 19. The group will meet at Valley Mall in Hagerstown at 7:45 a.m., depart by bus at 8 a.m., and return to the shopping center at approximately 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $107, which includes transportation, lunch and visit to Great Falls. Reservations are required.

News from West Hagerstown Lions

  • On May 19, the West Hagerstown Lions Club served a pancake breakfast to members of the Wagon Train in Funkstown Park. The club enjoys doing this every year for the friendly wagon train members.
  • The club also had another successful ham sandwich sale in May. The club thanks its customers for their support. 
  • Thelma Myers is the club’s newest member.  The club is happy to have her as a member.
  • The club celebrated its 33rd charter night on June 3. Past District Gov. Barbara McKenney presented the Melvin Jones Award to Elizabeth Stone. It is the highest award given to a Lions Club member for dedication and service.
  • Roxanne Rowland, whose talent for flower arranging is appreciated at every meeting, was awarded the Lion of the Year Award.
  • Washington County Technical High School senior Diamond T. Campbell received a $1,000 scholarship from the West Hagerstown Lions Club. Diamond was on the North Hagerstown High School track team and would like to continue with track in college. He plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology to continue studying gaming programming.
