Learn to create sustainable gardens Thursday, June 13

FUNKSTOWN -- — “Becoming Bay-wise: Creating Healthy Sustainable Gardens” will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at Funkstown Town Hall on Baltimore Street in Funkstown. Annette Ipsan, horticulture educator for the University of Maryland Extension in Washington County, will discuss how to improve water quality and conserve natural resources with environmentally smart gardening practices; explore best practices for planting, watering, fertilizing, mulching and mowing; and understand how to manage pests and wildlife, recycle waste and protect our waterways and the Chesapeake Bay.
