Pageant director thanks all who have helped her

To the editor:

It is not every day you come across that special someone or something that truly touches your heart and changes you.  I am pleased to say I met such people while planning and implementing my second annual sendoff dinner for four remarkable young women. These young ladies are preparing to compete for the title of Miss Maryland and Miss Maryland’s Outstanding Teen in just a couple of weeks. I will inevitably forget someone, so I will begin by saying thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s sendoff a success.

To my husband, I can never say thank you enough for the countless hours you spend running those tedious errands I can’t seem to fit in. You are always there for me, and that gives me the support I need to give my best.

To my MSSO family — Kara, Sheryl, Megan, Brynn, Emily, Leah, Wayne, Donna, Diana, Cindy, Bob, Janet Lee, Madisyn and family, and Stephanie. You are only as good as the people you work with, and what an amazing team we have. Thank you for remembering the things I do not.

To Wayne, you are always there when I need you. Thank you for donating sound to my dinner. You are a great friend.

To Rob Rowe and Blue Mountain Woodworking; Mr. Davis and Davis Funeral Home; Food Lion; and Smithsburg Market, thank you for your donations.

To Phil, Erika and Bonnie, you are among the most generous people I have ever met. Your continuous support truly ensures my success. Giving individuals such as yourselves are what makes or breaks us. Thank you for always making my events a complete success.

To the BISFA performers, thank you for taking your time on a Saturday night to provide entertainment for my dinner. Many teens would have not. And you were great.

As you can see, I am blessed.

Tina M. Stephens, executive director
Miss Smithsburg/Miss South Mountain Scholarship Organization
