Two suffer major injuries in motorcycle crash on I-81 in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Two people suffered major injuries when their motorcycle got a flat tire and crashed on Interstate 81 Wednesday afternoon in Franklin County, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Richard E. Weig, 56, and Patricia Leo, 54, both of High Falls, N.Y., were taken to Chambersburg Hospital to be treated for major injuries, according to a state police news release.

Their conditions were unavailable Friday morning.

Troopers said Weig and Leo were traveling north on a 2008 Harley-Davidson at about 7:15 p.m., when the motorcycle got a flat tire and crashed. The motorcycle slid about 30 feet before coming to rest on the center line.

Police said Leo and Weig, who was driving the motorcycle, were able to get to the left shoulder of the roadway, where they waited for rescue personnel.

Both suffered cuts to the face, hands and legs, according to the release.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene.
