Salamander Scramble deadline June 21
WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Renfrew Institute’s sixth annual Salamander Scramble 5K Fundraiser Run is set for Thursday, July 4. The event is held in conjunction with Waynesboro’s Summer Jubilee Firecracker 5K, and begins at 8:30 a.m. on the Summer Jubilee grounds across from Waynesboro Hospital. 

Runners for the institute must register separately through the institute as Salamander Scrambler team members. Team registration deadline is Friday, June 21.

All Salamander team members receive training support, including the Couch to 5K program, plus paid Firecracker 5K registration, an eco-performance Salamander Scramble T-shirt, and fundraising support, along with a one-year membership to Renfrew Institute.

Zumbathon to benefit Wounded Warriors
A benefit Zumbathon will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 22, at Hagerstown YMCA, 1100 Eastern Blvd., Hagerstown.

The event benefits the Wounded Warrior Regiment Charitable Organization and Semper Fi Fund.

Catoctin Challenge signup under way

FREDERICK, Md. — Catoctin Challenge bicycle will be Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23. This year will feature a new route.
 
The ride begins in Frederick on Saturday.

Cyclists will have the options of four routes from 35 miles to a 100-mile century.
There will be rest stops, SAG support and lunch Saturday and Sunday.

The overnight stay will be at Camp Greentop, where Outback Steakhouse will provide dinner.

Fall prevention seminar offered
Parkway Physical Therapy will host a “Fall Prevention: Making Your Environment Safe Free” seminar from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at its facility, 13 Western Maryland Parkway, Hagerstown.

Learn how to evaluate and modify the home to decrease fall risk.

Also learn how to identify risk factors that cause balance deficits. And participants will be taught exercises to help you to improve your balance.
