Two taken to hospital after Sharpsburg Pike crash

June 06, 2013

Sharpsburg Pike in the area of Summerlin Drive was closed for about an hour and half Wednesday evening after a Pontiac Sunfire crossed from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a pickup truck, according to Maryland State Police.

The driver of the 1997 Sunfire, Katlyn Leigh Harris, 26, of Boonsboro, was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown after the 6:21p.m. crash, police said.

The driver of the 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck, Roy Lee Householder, 29, of Hagerstown, was also taken to the hospital, police said.

Neither Harris nor Householder was listed as a patient Thursday morning, a hospital spokeswoman said in an email.

Two passengers in the truck were unhurt, police said.

When Harris crossed the center line, Householder swerved to the left but was unable to avoid the collision, state police said.
