Mr. Millard H. “Sam” Rock, 75, of 1015 Woodland Parkway, State Line, Pa., went to be with our Lord at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013.

Born April 27, 1938, in Pond Bank, Pa., he was the son of the late Millard H. Rock Sr. and Beatrice (Stoops) Rock.

Sam went to live in the Milton Wright Home around the age of 4, an orphanage previously located near Greencastle, Pa., to which he credits his introduction to Christ.

He graduated with the 1957 class of Greencastle-Antrim High School. Following high school, he attended barber school in Philadelphia.

Sam was self-employed as the owner of The Razor’s Edge Barbershop, Hagerstown, Md., for the last 40 years.

He and his wife, Brenda J. (Bennett) Rock, were married June 17, 1972. They moved to their current residence in 1973. Brenda passed away Nov. 14, 2006.

Sam loved fly-fishing and enjoyed teaching others the craft; one week of every year, he taught at Camp Tohiglo. He was a volunteer with Prison Ministry in Washington and Cumberland counties for 35 years.

Above all other loves was his passion for our Lord. He was a charter member of the Berean Bible Fellowship Church. Sam accepted the Lord and became a born-again Christian in 1972. He witnessed to everyone he met and loved handing out Gospel tracts. His favorite Bible passage was Psalm 34, which Sam would have encouraged you to read.

He is survived by four daughters, Tracy Burger and her husband Mike, Greencastle, Pa., Kristi Lisech and her husband, Scott, Stafford, Va., Sarah Barnes and her husband, Doug, Chambersburg, Pa., and Elizabeth Rock, Marion, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Anna and Nathan Lisech, Lucas Rock, and Caleb and Catie Barnes; one brother, Richard Rock, Pond Bank; one sister: Betty Heck, Idaho; many nieces and nephews; and his best lifelong friend, Uncle Bobby Harmon, Clear Spring, Md.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur, John and Harold Rock; and his sister, Irene Jack.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at Berean Bible Fellowship Church, 15811 S. Young Road, Greencastle, with the Rev. Bruce Dick officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berean Bible Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 403, State Line, PA 17263.
