Roast beef dinner set for June 15

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Big Pool is holding a roast beef dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15. The menu includes hot roast beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, fruit, dessert and beverage. Cost is by donation.

Family movie planned in church yard

A family movie in the church yard is at at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, in Clear Spring, at the corner of Md. 68 and U.S. 40. The featured attraction is Walt Disney’s “The Apple Dumpling Gang.” Refreshments will be served. This event is free of charge. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs. If it rains, the event will be moved indoors.

Country carnival is Saturday at St. Paul’s

St. Paul’s Reformed Church will hold a country carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, U.S. 40, three miles east of Clear Spring.

There will be carnival games for children to play such as pickup ducks, bean bag toss, and hole-in-one golf, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a moon bounce. There will also be crafts, prizes, and goodie bags given to all children.  Participants can also get their picture taken and design a frame to take it home in. 

Also available will be balloon animals, snow cones, and face paintings. 

Door prizes will be given away every 15 minutes for adults. Children can register for a DVD movie. 

The menu includes grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, soups, drinks and ice cream. All activities are free, but donations will be accepted. The community is invited. The event will be held rain or shine.
