Can you believe that we are a half day away from the end of the school year? Tomorrow is a half day for our Washington County students. This year has flown by. 

Please be aware that starting tomorrow, there will be more children in the streets playing, riding their bikes and walking to various summer activities. Please be extra cautious when driving.

Church plans community picnic

Now that the summer break is officially beginning, it’s time for picnics and other summer fun.
On Sunday, June 23, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Funkstown will hold its annual community service and picnic in the park at Funkstown Community Park. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Pavilion No. 4. The Funkstown community is invited and lunch will be provided. There will be activities and games for everyone.

To make reservations, call the church at 301-791-1738 by Monday, June 17. In case of rain, the service and picnic will be moved to the church.

Children’s Village 5K run and kids’ 1-mile fun run

The Children’s Village annual 5K run and kids’ 1-mile fun run is Saturday, June 22, at the Children’s Village campus. Registration is required. The 5K run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m.; kids event is at 9:15 a.m.; a free tot trot follows. Kids events are free; 5K registration costs $20, $25 after Saturday, June 15; $15 for students. South High students earn scholarships
