Upcoming events at Boonsboro Library include:

Join the Summer Reading Club “Beneath the Surface” with a kickoff for young adults ages 10 and older at 5 p.m. Friday. Celebrate summer and read.

On Tuesday, June 11, beginning at noon, a free family movie, “James and the Giant Peach,” will be shown. The movie is 80 minutes long and is rated PG.

Artists open their studios Saturday

Artists in the woods, a regional artists Fence Show and En Plein Air Demos will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at 9650 Beaver Creek Church Road in Hagerstown. The show will feature 12 independent regional artists in an outdoor exhibit  in this forest setting at the home and studio of Elisabet Stacy-Hurley. Paintings will be displayed on the fences, in the trees and in the studio. Visitors will be able to browse a variety of paintings, photographs, art prints, notecards, artist books and handmade pottery,  and also can watch and learn over the shoulder of  many artists as they paint.

This event is open to the public and admission is free.. The rain date is Sunday, June 9. For more information, call Stacy-Hurley at 301-797-7619.

Outreach programs offered at church

 Benevola United Methodist Church offers two outreach programs in the next week. On Saturday, the community is invited to a free, full breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. From 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, neighbors in need can visit Bountiful Blessings, a program offering cleaning supplies and personal care items.

Both activities are held in the church, west of Boonsboro on Benevola Church Road. For more information, call Katie at 301-432-6126.

Free coffee for those ages 55 and older

 Calling all coffee drinkers ages 55 and older: Be sure to enjoy a free cup of coffee and some hot morning conversation Monday, June 10, at Crawford’s. Reeder’s Memorial Home picks up the tab for coffee drinkers of a certain age from opening until noon.  

BHS Class of ’66 reunion nears

The Boonsboro High School Class of 1966 will celebrate its 47th annual picnic in Boonsboro Shafer Park on Saturday, June 15, in the community center in Boonsboro Shafer Park. The festivities begin at 11 a.m., with the meal planned for noon. Vendors sought for Fahrney-Keedy festival

Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro will hold their ninth annual summer festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Vendor and crafter spots cost $25 for a 12-by-12-foot spot, and interested vendors should contact Bonnie at  301-671-5001 or bshirk@fkhv.org for an application.
