May 19, 2013

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — A shot fired Sunday afternoon in a second-floor apartment in the 100 block of East German Street sent a bullet through the floor and into a restaurant below, where it lodged in a wall near a table of patrons, according to a news release from the Shepherdstown Police Department.

A man entered an apartment at about 1 p.m. and told a resident he was looking for someone else who lived there, the news release stated.

Police said the man pulled out a handgun, sending the resident retreating to his room as the gun was fired.

The suspect fled the area.

No one was hurt, police said.

The suspect was described as a heavyset white male between 20 and 25 years old. Police said his first name might be Eli, and he was driving a light turquoise Saturn coupe.

The suspect might be from the Hedgesville, W.Va., area, police said.
