Before members and invited guests, Hagerstown’s SCORE chapter celebrated Small Business Month and the selection of its clients of the year at the April 26 awards luncheon at Always Ron’s in Hagerstown.

This year’s award winners were selected by the chapter’s board of directors from among more than 300 applicants mentored by the local organization.

Chosen as startup client of the year was Toni Ogden, owner/operator of Sour Sentiments, an online retail outlet offering a unique line of gifts, greeting cards and novelties.

Honors for the established client of the year went to Rhonda Wiles Mellow, president and chief executive officer of W.I.L.E.S Commercial Cleaning Inc., which specializes in providing services where exceptionally high levels of cleanliness are required.

Both women were commended for their outstanding performances during their mentoring sessions, including attention to detail, timely completion of assignments and progress demonstrated in their businesses.

Also at the luncheon, service awards were presented to Dr. Martha Mattare, Hugh Wachter and Tom Hagan in honor of their five-year anniversaries with the local chapter of SCORE.
