Raymond Wayne "Snake" Kitchen, 82, of Clear Spring, and a resident of Julia Manor Health Care, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at Julia Manor.

Born Aug. 2, 1930, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Wesley K. Kitchen and Jane Catherine Snyder.

Raymond was a social member of the Clear Spring Ambulance Club and the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company. He was a previous member of the Mercersburg Moose Lodge.

He was last employed as a truck driver by Callas Contractors and was known as the "Sandman" at Hagerstown Speedway.

Raymond was carefree and enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is survived by his former wife, C. Louise Kitchen of Clear Spring; daughters, Ami Reed and husband, Donald, of Big Pool, Cathy Burton and husband, Bryan, of Clear Spring, twin daughters, Diana Brunner and husband, Charles, of New Market, Md., and Roxanna Slick and husband, Leroy, of Williamsport; one son, Larry Kitchen and wife, Bonnie, of Hagerstown; a sister, Leona Reeder of Boonsboro; a brother, Bruce Kitchen of Boonsboro; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by two sons, Allan W. and Brian D. Kitchen; sisters, Lydia Crawford, Dorothy Staley, Anne F. Kitchen, Josephine Goliday, Lucy M. Kitchen, Amanda Myers, Kathy E. Kitchen and Lucille Kefauver; and brothers, Paul Kitchen, Eugene Kitchen, Jack Kitchen, Martin Kitchen, Charles Kitchen and George Snyder.

Services will be Friday, May 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. Teddy Rosenberry will officiate. Burial will be at Falling Waters Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Spring Mills, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 3, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
