Economic Development Commission

The 2013 Business & Industry Directory is now available in electronic format through the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission’s website.

Assembled each year by the EDC, the directory is provided as a free source of information about the business community in Washington County and its municipalities. Businesses and industries listed in the directory include manufacturers, distributors, major employers and companies offering products or services relating to business development. General retail, individual professions and products or services for the general public are typically not included.

The directory arranges company listings numerically, according to the North American Industry Classification System. Company descriptions of major products and/or services and business contact information also are included.

Using a variety of sources, the directory is compiled and verified annually through mailed surveys, telephone and facsimile inquiries, the EDC’s website, local and regional directories and other references.

City Hospital

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — West Virginia University Hospitals-East’s City Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology, or ACR.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR practice guidelines and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality-control procedures and quality-assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which provides the practice with a comprehensive report it can use for continuous practice improvement.
