1. No dumb blonde

Barbara Ingram School for the Arts presents the musical "Legally Blonde" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3. The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.  Elle Woods' boyfriend dumps her to attend Harvard Law. Woods gets accepted to the school so she can get him back. 2. Bidding on bachelors for charity

Charity bachelor auction will be Friday, May 3, at Elks Club, 11063 Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown. 6 p.m. doors open; 7 p.m. first bachelor auctioned. $5, includes light hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. The auction features several bachelors from the Washington County area ranging in age from 21 to 50-ish. A silent auction will also be held during the evening. Sponsored by Friends of Safe Place. 3. Discussing the war

Daniel Carroll Toomey, pictured, will discuss "Old Men in Blue & Gray: Maryland Civil War Veterans" Thursday, May 2, at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, City Park, Hagerstown. 4. Sweet, sweet strawberries

Strawberry Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Homewood at Williamsport, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport.  Food, crafts, games for kids, entertainment by Heavenly Harmony and Back Creek Valley Boys, strawberries by the bag, strawberry sundaes, strawberry shortcake and pies. Enter at side on Governor Lane Boulevard.


5. Learn how to contra dance

Shepherdstown Music and Dance will host a contra dance Saturday, May 4, at War Memorial Building, corner of King and German streets, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Kim Forrey will call squares and contras to the music of Ricochet, with Walter Hodjka on fiddle and Rya Martin on piano. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and clean, soft-soled shoes. 7:30 p.m. free beginners workshop; 8 p.m. dance. $10; $7, members. Go to www.smad.us
