Richard William Grier Sr., 85, of Marlowe, W.Va., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family and friends, on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md.

Born March 13, 1928, in Avis, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond M. and Anna L. Reed Grier.

He served in the U.S. Navy after World War II.

He was a member of Marlowe Assembly of God.

He was an auto mechanic for Montgomery Ward in Baltimore until retiring in 1991.

Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda I. Sones Grier; a son, Richard W. Grier Jr. of Baltimore; a sister, Darl Metzger of Lewisburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Lisa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Grier.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 29, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will open Monday at noon.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor James M. Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marlowe Assembly of God, 9045 Williamsport Pike, Falling Waters, WV 25419.
