Garman “Bob” L. Bowers Sr., 85, of Fairplay, Md., passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at the home of his daughter.

Born Oct. 11, 1927, in Sharpsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Kenneth W. and Nora (Benner) Bowers. His wife of 46 years, Wahneta F. Bowers, preceded him in death in 2002.

Garman worked at Brandt Cabinet Works, Vertol Aircraft, Custer Channel Wing, Fairchild Industries, and retired from Mack Trucks, Inc.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, Md.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by one son, Garman L. Bowers Jr.; one daughter, Karen W. Pierce and husband, Michael A.; two grandsons, Michael A. Pierce II and wife, Kelly G., and Garman L. Bowers III and fiancée, Olivia F. Tomsic; one great-grandson, Joseph B. Pierce; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe M. Pierce.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Md. The Rev. Michael K. Louia will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
