Boy Scouts to host spaghetti dinner

Boy Scout Troop 23 in Funkstown will hold a spaghetti dinner Saturday, May 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funkstown fire hall. 

The menu includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and drink. 

Ceasar salad with grilled chicken is available for an extra cost. Dessert will be available at a bake sale. 

Advance tickets cost $5.50 per person. Those younger than 5 will be admitted free. Tickets at the door cost $8. Tickets can be purchased at Funkstown Town Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A silent auction will be held with items such as Baltimore Ravens home game tickets, NFL jerseys, NFL signed merchandise, Whitetail Resort passes and other items.

Entertainment will be provided by the boys of Troop 23, and the singing scoutmaster chefs. Scouts will be the table waiters.  

Proceeds will be shared by the Funkstown Volunteer Fire Company and Toys for Tots.

Basket bingo

The Funkstown Lions Club will hold a Longaberger basket bingo Sunday at 2 p.m. at  the Funkstown fire hall. 

The doors open at 1 p.m. There will be 25 games with new and retired baskets.

There also will be food available.

Proceeds will benefit the Salem Avenue Elementary School PTA, as well as other community projects. Tickets cost $20.

The event is open to those ages 18 and older.

Women’s Club

The Women’s Club invites the community to a wine and cheese tasting Friday, May 17, starting at 6 p.m. at the club, 31 S. Prospect St.

Tickets cost $10 per person.

Wine from Red Heifer Winery in Smithsburg, and cheese and sorbet from Misty Meadow Farm Creamery LLC in Ringgold will be available.

There will also be a silent auction of items, and appetizers and desserts made by Women’s Club members.
