Pa. man charged with careless driving after crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — A Breezewood, Pa., man was charged with careless driving after an April 14 single-vehicle crash in Fulton County, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

Raymond I. Hillenbrand, 26, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling south on South Valley Road in Brush Creek Township, Pa., when he failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled off the west side of the roadway before striking a barn, troopers said.

After he struck the barn, Hillenbrand reversed his vehicle and fled a half-mile south to a residence at 6722 South Valley Road, troopers said.

Hillenbrand then drove away from the residence before coming to a final rest along the east side of the road at 6688 South Valley Road, from where his car later was towed, troopers said.

Pa. resident charged with furnishing tobacco to teen

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — A McConnellsburg resident was charged with furnishing tobacco to a 15-year-old juvenile, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

Lois D. Shotts, 57, was charged with furnishing tobacco to the minor, who was cited with possession of tobacco on Central Fulton High School property on April 12 at 2:55 p.m., troopers said.

Man charged with burglary and theft in Mercersburg

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — A man was charged with burglary and theft after a man residing on Seminole Lane in Mercersburg said that the man entered his residence on March 26, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

James N. Spears II, 40, allegedly stole two firearms during the incident, troopers said.
