BOONSBORO — Boonsboro honored six players Thursday on Senior Night, but it was the underclassmen who starred for the Warriors.

Junior Courtney Ridenour was Boonsboro’s senior contributor, leading the Warriors with three goals on the way to a 7-3 victory over Brunswick.

“It was an awesome win for the seniors,” Boonsboro coach Susan Funke said. “We played as a team, though. I tell them nothing is scored by themselves. Every goal is a total team effort.”

Maeve Windsor — the Warriors’ junior goalkeeper — gave a masterful performance between the pipes with 14 saves.

“I really think (Windsor) is the key to the team,” said Funke. “She made some great saves and got the offense going after some clears.”

Boonsboro (4-3, 3-1) built a 5-1 lead in the first half as four different players collected goals.

Freshman Lillian Funke scored the game’s first goal at the 20:46 mark and Courtney Ridenour followed that with her first goal of the game four minutes later.

Kaitlyn Ridenour, another freshman, added to Boonsboro’s lead by intercepting a pass and outrunning three Brunswick defenders en route to the goal.

Lillian Funke scored again and junior Claudia Jenkins added a goal for the Warriors with 2:22 left in the half.

It all made for a fulfilling night for the seniors.

“It was really special. Five of the girls have been with me since they were freshmen and for them to stick it out all four years and learn the game made us really want to win tonight.”

Alex Green, Cecea Kline, Kiana Miller, Katie Sheridan, Samantha Smith and Natalie Young are Boonsboro’s six seniors.

Dana Omdahl led Brunswick (3-3, 3-2) with two goals and Kathryn Miller added one score. Aleyna Fitz added an assist for the Railroaders.
