Businesses honored for reaching milestones

The Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission honored the following organizations who reached milestone anniversaries as part of this year’s Celebration of Business event Tuesday. Following is a list of the 2013 honorees, the number of years each has been in business and the year each was established:

• 185 years (1828) — HM Media (The Herald-Mail Company Inc.) 

• 110 years (1903) — HBP Inc.; Holcim USA Inc.

• 90 years (1923) — Hoffman’s Quality Meats; Potomac Edison, a FirstEnergy Company

• 80 years (1933) — The Columbia Bank; Wantz Distributors Inc.

• 75 years (1938) — Duvinage, LLC; Kaplan University, Hagerstown Campus; Weiss Bros. of Hagerstown Inc. t/a Weiss Bros. Paper

• 65 years (1948) — Brook Meadow Meat Market

• 50 years (1963) — Martin’s Elevator Inc.; Palmyra Farm, LLC; Smith Elliott Kearns & Company, LLC

• 45 years (1968) — Antietam Cable Television Inc.; Control Systems Inc.; Hobart Corporation; UPS Freight; WHAG-AM/WDLD-FM, 1968

• 40 years (1973) — Lovell’s Nursery Inc., 1973

• 35 years (1978) — Action Products Inc.; Customizers Inc./Creative Accents; Electromet Corporation,; Fil-Tec Inc.; Hub Labels Inc.
